Cultivating a Sense of “Safe Enough” and Filling Your Cup

Years spent battling disordered anxiety and chronic panic led me to therapeutic movement as a respite for my “nervous” nervous system. The tools I attained in a yoga room piqued an endless curiosity about how appropriate movement, breath techniques, mindfulness and meditation assist in not only soothing symptoms of what we call “anxiety” but support overall well-being and continued resiliency.

In this workshop, I invite you to explore somatic skills that can provide comfort and compassion to yourself and others through nervous system regulation. Add to your toolbox for use in a therapeutic setting with individuals or groups, or in your own practice of restoring yourself through the important work you do.

I intend to offer:

-a variety of grounding practices

-gentle movement ideas from a chair or from a standing position to regulate the breath and create a sense of “safe enough” in the body and in the room.

-skills from polyvagal theory to stimulate the relaxation response.

-calming breath techniques for you and for those clients who are not anxious about focusing on their breath (and ideas for those who are).

-practices for working with panic

-mindfulness-based stress reduction tools

-an experience of a 30 minute, restorative, guided non-sleep rest (yoga nidra) which has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, stress, insomnia, chronic pain and more. My intention to close with this experience is to offer you the opportunity to refill your cup and feel rejuvenated after the workshop.

No previous experience with yoga or meditation is necessary. All bodies are welcome. Session notes will be sent to you following the workshop. Can’t make it in person? There is an option to gather with us via zoom.
